This is a custom ordered 1/4 bent nosewarmer with black color, a light sandblasted finish, and natural smooth rim.  The ring or shank extension is made from Algerian briar.  Hand cut ebonite stem with big white dot inlay.  Made in June 2014, marked "Rex Walden" "Texas".  Shipped to Sweden.

Straight Grain Bent Prince Tobacco Pipe by Rex Walden

This was a beautiful piece a briar that I left natural for the finish.  The pipe is a thin walled feather-light prince shaped pipe with a gradual bend to the stem.  This pipe would be an ideal pipe for Virginia blends and has a large bowl at 7/8" width.  Stamped on bottom "Rex Walden" "Texas", made in 2013.  SOLD and shipped to Istanbul, Turkey.

Custom Briar Poker Tobacco Pipe by Rex Walden "Thor's Hammer" USA

This was a recent commissioned pipe from a customer in Canada.  The briar block had a nice plateaux feature on top of it, so I tried my best to keep it by making the rim of the pipe smooth and using rustication with a light blast to give the pipe some contrast.  I had castle or fortress in my mind while shaping the pipe (hence the squarish shape), but after I posted some photos of it on Instagram one of my followers called it "Thor's Hammer", which I thought was a great name for the pipe.  The poker features a hand cut ebonite stem with a big round white dot inlay.  The bottom of the pipe was stained brown and shows off some nice grain.  This pipe has been sold and shipped to Alberta, Canada.

I try to make pipes that are inspired by places I have been or things that I see.  In the Texas Hill Country we sometimes have exotic game that fly through our properties.  One of these species is called the Blackbuck Antelope, a beautiful animal that we see often around here that is native to India.  This pipe is inspired by these creatures that bound around here like wild hellions.  I used a small piece of bamboo that worked to break-up up the grooved rustication from the all black ebonite stem.

Large Bent Egg Pipe Shape with Diamond Stem by Rex Walden 9/15/2013

This was a large block of briar that was suitable for a bent pipe, which I really like when reading or working on the computer.  I actually modeled it after a 70's Dunhill Bent Red Bark estate pipe that I own and really enjoy.  This pipe is much larger than the Dunhill, but has similar lines (minus the diamond stem and shank).  Also, this pipe is smooth versus the blasted Red Bark.
